Roxette Live

The legendary pop duo Roxette will extend their Australian visit and play shows across Australia with a second show in Sydney at Brisbane Entertainment Center this February 14 and 24, 2012. The ticket sales in Sydney were sold out already on its first day of sale with fans pleading for an additional Sydney show, which is now confirmed for Thursday February 16, 2012.

Roxette are a Swedish pop music duo, Marie Fredrickson on vocals and Per Gessle, vocals and guitar. The  duo became an international act from the late 1980’s, when they released their breakthrough album Look Sharp! Their third album Joyride became just as successful. Roxette achieved nineteen UK Top 40 hits and numerous US hot 100 hits, including for US number ones with “The Look”, “Listen to your heart”, “It must have been love”, and “Joyride”. Other hits included Dangerous, Fading like a flower and Dressed for success.

"The concerts have been amazing so far," says Per Gessle. "Marie and the band are in top shape and the response has been incredible. And the way the new album has been received is great. We feel very fortunate and look forward to a very exciting year!"

EMI released earlier this year Roxette’s new album Charm School and will support the tour with the release of a tailored Australian greatest hit package, released earlier this month. Charm school went straight to hit the chart to number one on the German, Czech and Swiss album.

Ichi The Killer

The Gallery’s Australian Cinémathèque, at GoMA, presents retrospective and thematic film programs and exhibitions, exploring the important lines of influence between the moving image and other areas of visual culture, and showcasing the work of influential filmmakers and artists. Its mission is to collect, conserve, present and interpret film and screen culture.

So watch out for the screening of Koroshiya Ichi (Ichi the Killer) 2001 on February 8,2012 at 8:30 pm at Cinema A.  Ochi the killer is based on the manga series Koroshiya Ichi (1998-2001) by Hideo Yamamoto which has English subtitles. Tadanobu Asano, Nao Ohmori and Shin’ya Tsukamoto play the lead roles in this movie.
The director  Maverick auteur Takashi Miike spins this unsettling, blood-soaked yakuza yarn adapted from Hideo Yamamoto's cult manga Koroshiya 1. When gangster don Anjo disappeared mysteriously, his protégé Kakihara (Tadanobu Asano) vows to find the people responsible. Kakihara is no ordinary mob. He impales one poor suspect’ snaked body on a series of meat hooks and then dumps hot oil on him.  A shadowy character known as Jijii (played by director Shinya Tsukamoto) deftly manipulates, for his own nefarious ends, Ichi (Nao Omori), an unbalanced but ruthless killing machine clad in a superhero suit. Pining for the sadistic abuse of his boss, Kakihara learns of Ichi from a Hong Kong hostess (Alien Sun) and sets out to find this fabled butcher, hoping he can inflict the pain that Kakihara craves.

Ichi The Killer is hyper-violent nonconformist classic of the genre.
